I was sitting here, trying to decide what I should say. It's pretty obvious we love each other. But Love is such an overused word. People say "I love you" and they don't even realize what those three little words really mean. Love isn't a pretty little package all wrapped up in bows and shiny wrapping paper. It's something much bigger than that, and in ways...Smaller. Shane, you are my everything, I always wanted someone to be my everything. How can I explain that? I don't think I can. I wrote a poem about a month before I met you, that described what I wanted, what I wished, what I didn't think I would ever really find, in a relationship. Then I met you...And I realized that I could, and I had, and that I was luckier than anyone I knew. Love isn't how much money you have, where you live, or what you look like. Love is the smile I see on your face when I first wake up and catch you watching me sleep. Love is when we can cuddle up on the couch together, and watch a movie, and be totally content. Love is saying I love you...and not having to open my mouth. You are love. I Love You.
I wanted to share this poem with you, because it meant alot to me...and I wanted you to know how much you fulfilled every part of this, and how you make my clouds turn into rainbows. Just like the song on this page...Everything I do, I do it for you.
Could you love me forever?
With all my faults
My indecisions?
Love me always
Through thick and thin
Could you love me for who I am?
Hold me in your heart
With all the tenderness
You can muster
The same way you hold me
in your arms
Could you love me tomorrow
The way you do today
Which was more
Than you did the day before?
Would this be asking too much?
Could you let me love you
For all that you are?
For everything you make me feel?
Allow me into your soul
Let me make you happy
Could you make my heart smile?
In such a way it never has before?
With just the smallest touch
Could you make my soul shine?
With an exuberance it has never known?
Could you love me unconditionally
Without regard to my past
Could you love me without reservations
And let the future build itself?
Could you love me when I cry
Hot scalding tears that drip down my cheeks
Could you love me enough to
Make the sadness disappear?
Into vague memories of the past
With your love bringing
out the sunshine hidden
Behind my clouds
Could you love me regardless
Of our circumstances
Regardless of our burdens
Where tomorrow is a better day
And yesterday is fading away
Could you let me hold your heart
in my soft hands
Could you allow me to keep it safe
And warm and free from harm?
Could you let me love you?
For what you are?
Would that be asking too much?
